Today it seems that almost everyone has a website, including business companies, photographers, governmental organizations, even just married couples. All these website owners differ from each other greatly: they have different profit levels and abilities to pay, knowledge and skills in web design and development. It becomes very easy to say which websites were created by advanced developers and which ones were made without a professional’s assistance. Now we want to show you the way to create a Flash website without hiring high-paid professionals (note that it doesn’t matter how skilled and aware of web industry you are). So by now we offer you to look through this step-by-step guide on how to create a Flash website by yourself using Moto Flash CMS.
We’re going to demonstrate you how to work with MotoCMS Flash templates. First of all, choose one of Flash templates from the MotoTemplates store and create live demo account. You can test any template free for 30 days and then decide whether you want to continue collaboration with this company or not. You can register and test every single template (there are no limitations in the number of demo versions you can try). Just take into account that you can have only one template registered to your email at the same time, so go to another theme only if you are sure that your current work is over. If you decide that you like the Flash template, then after 30 days you will be able to buy out it with all changes made within the control panel.
This time we’ll work with the template #35302. Let’s create a black and white website with bright colorful photos!
After a short registration you’ll receive an email with an access data to the control panel. Following simple instructions you’ll get into your admin panel.
There are top, left and right toolbars which will help you to customize almost everything within the control panel. If you find it difficult to decide what to do with your new template, open ‘File’ – ‘Wizard’ (from the top toolbar): the system will offer you some help and advices on what you have to do. Every menu item has a separate sub-menu which can be a good guide for action.
If this scheme is not convenient for you, then you can start creating a website for your own.
For example, let’s create a new splash page for our website. Press ‘Create a New Page’ button on the top left corner of the control panel and complete the required data.
You need to type a new page name, title and URL. There is also an option of choosing a parent page.
As soon as the page is created, you need to add it as a menu item. Open the ‘Content’ – ‘Menus’ tabs from the very top control panel toolbar and choose the website section to edit. Now you can add a new menu item.
You should fill in the label, enable or disable a click action and choose the parent menu item. You can also change the menu items sequence by dragging them with the mouse.
Now you can design the website whatever you want.
We create a photography-related website, so it will be good to decorate the splash page with a beautiful photo gallery. Open ‘Modules’ – ‘Galleries’ – ‘Media Gallery Preview’ from the left toolbar and select the on-page location for you new gallery. A double click will open the module for editing. To fill the gallery with images you need to create a new content in the Media Gallery. So press the ‘Create New Content’ button, type its name and add new items from the media assets. You can add several pictures at once.
You can also adjust your new media gallery settings:
- general settings (slideshow delay, corner radius, border width, color and alpha);
- arrow settings (arrow background width and alpha, arrows color and alpha, auto load and play, sound volume);
- mediaplayer skin (background color and alpha, elements color and alpha, active color, font, preload module).
To avoid incorrect content displaying on your future website, please draw your attention to the ‘Content Placement’ option.
You can choose several object placements:
- Bottom holder;
- Page content top holder;
- Page content holder;
- Page back holder;
- Content top layout;
- On the entire page;
- Content layout;
- On the entire website;
- Gallery holder.
We chose the ‘Content top layout’ for the gallery, the menu items and the title.
A double click will open the ‘Title Element’ object for editing. Within the control panel you can edit almost every item in the same way.
To make our title look more effectively, we’ll decorate it. Choose one of 10 shapes from the left toolbar and place it as a background for the company name.
Lets proceed to the next website page – portfolio. Due to our previous actions with the content placement, the company name and the menu section is displayed with all the changes on every page, so we don’t need to spend time for copy/pasting. Just drag and drop the Gallery Preview module at the bottom of the page and edit its color scheme.
You can also supplement the gallery previews with new photo strips by adding new folders with pictures to the ‘Catalog Gallery Widget’.
The next thing we’re going to show you is the ‘Social Network Sharing Slot’. This slot will help you to share your content on the most popular social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, MySpace, StumbleUpon, Vkontakte). So find the ‘Share Button Slot’ in the left toolbar and place it wherever you want. You just need to choose a social network for sharing and an image to mark the social button. Everything else will be done by the system.
If you don’t have correct social button images into the ‘Media Library’ then upload them.
Open the ‘Vision’ website page – there is a video file. You can adjust its Media player settings and design at your will by double clicking:
Modify it within the right toolbar:
As we have created the splash page from scratch, it is necessary to change the website settings and set this page as the homepage of your site. Open ‘Preferences’ – ‘Website’ and select the page to start from.
The last thing we’d like to tell you is a necessity to compress your website files. It is an additional guarantee that all the changes you’ve done will never be lost while saving.
Now our website is almost ready, and you can test it yourself.
We hope you enjoyed this manual and would like to know more about MotoCMS and the CMS based templates. We also hope that the above-mentioned information will be useful for you.
We wish you good luck in your online activity, and maybe one day you’ll try Moto Flash CMS in action.
